Sudha's Summer Vacation 2010

It's been two years away from home and I started to become less energetic, life seemed boring and mostly I became more adamant at work. My body stopped listening my commands. I realised  what I need and I felt I couldn't drag any more with such a mental fatigue. The next moment I told the same to my close friends(roomies). They couldn't understand why I want to go at the end of the summer vacation. Even my Dad couldn't believe my decision because I declined his earlier proposal about coming home during vacation. He felt I was kiddin or something at first. But everyone respected my idea after they reconginised the seriousness in my proposal. I should thank my professor for granting me leave at the end of vacation.( I returned Taiwan after the registrtaion for the fall semester was over.)
As my decision was all of a sudden even ticket booking(different destination ticket) and ARC(visa extension) was not so smooth. I have to spend little excess on ticket and redo ARC once again after I came.
Finally, after all hurdles I flew from Taiwan. My trip was some thing like this.  Taipei-New Delhi-Varanasi-Vijaywada-Hyderabad-Hsinchu.

First I planned to visit Banaras Hindu University where I did my masters degree and visit Prof. Saha , roam around the ghats and scenic places in Vaaranasi. So inorder to reach Varanasi I should take train from New Delhi which takes 12hrs if everything goes well. I had six and hours before I board train in New Delhi. I brought some wiki maps with me. This is my first experience to use wiki maps in India. I struggled a bit because Delhi became very messy and every where some construtions are taking place due to common wealth games. There are no sign boards on any roads that can lead me to a Metro or any historic place. I managed to reach the Red fort by a metro and on foot with out anybody's help and from there I could reach Jamma masjid very easily. This is one of the oldest mosques in India. After that I had a very less time and I should return to the railway station to board my train to Varanasi. I have less time. I came out and I couldn't find any direcctions to the nearest metro station. Some how I used wiki maps and believed my instincts. The horribe part is the roads are very narrow and heavy traffic and even a pedastrain can't move ahead. Only people who experienced can understand the situation. Sorry I couldn't take any picture(bcoz I became sick in that mess). I walked for about thirty minutes in that traffic to reach the nearest metro and then I felt like I am in heaven. Finally I reached station on time and could board the train.

Prof. Saha booked accomodation for me in BHU and I could enjoy my stay in Varanasi. He took care of me like his own kid. I could never forget the love and affection he has shown when I was in Varanasi. He even took  me to ghats but I forgot to take camera so I have no pictures which can show the holiness of Varanasi.I enjoyed myself a lot in Anshu's(Prof.Saha's son) B'day. This reduced my stress a lot.

After that I went back home to Vijaywada with the message and moral support Dr.Saha has given to me. During my journey(34hr journey) a disaster occured, the power cable of my Macbook was broken. No more I could open my computer at home.(Macintosh is not  popular in VZA, I have to travel 300kms once again to fix it and which I am not sure) I was disappointed a bit but  anyway the purpose of my visit is to enjoy the warmthness in the love of my mom and dad. I enjoyed each and every moment of my vacation at home.I spent all my day time at home talking with mom(some or the other relatives who visited our home)and in the evening i used to roam in our city centre. I was born and brought up in the same city so I still have quite a good number of friends. I covered as many as I can. My mom and my aunts made various varieties of dishes during my stay. My younger brother took care of my final day trip to Hyderabad(300Kms from VZA). So i had a very less burden. On the final day I had good time with my younger sister. Both of us had lunch and went for shopping. Finally I said good bye to everyone and flew back to Hsinchu.

An Evening on seaside

I spent this evening on the seaside. It was a lovely evening with cool sea breeze. I took some snaps of sunset. I enjoyed this evening standing in the sea water.

Circle of love

One morning, a farmer knocked loudly on the door of a monastery. When Brother Porter
opened the door, the farmer held out to him a magnificent bunch of grapes.

“‘Dear Brother Porter, these are the finest grapes from my vineyard. Please accept them
as a gift from me.’

“‘Why, thank you! I’ll take them straight to the Abbot, who will be thrilled with such a
gift.’

“‘No, no. I brought them for you.’

“‘For me? But I don’t deserve such a beautiful gift from nature.’

“‘Whenever I knocked on the door, you opened it. When the harvest had been ruined by
drought, you gave me a piece of bread and a glass of wine every day. I want this bunch of
grapes to bring you a little of the sun’s love, the rain’s beauty, and God’s miraculous
power.’

“Brother Porter put the grapes down where he could see them and spent the whole
morning admiring them: they really were lovely. Because of this, he decided to give the
present to the Abbot, whose words of wisdom had always been such a boon to him.
“The Abbot was very pleased with the grapes, but then he remembered that one of the
other monk was ill and thought: ‘I’ll give him the grapes. Who knows, they might bring
a little joy into his life.’

“But the grapes did not remain for very long in the room of the ailing monk, for he in turn
thought: ‘Brother Cook has taken such good care of me, giving me only the very best
food to eat. I’m sure these grapes will bring him great happiness.’ And when Brother
Cook brought him his lunch, the monk gave him the grapes.

“‘These are for you. You are in close touch with the gifts nature gives us and will know
what to do with this, God’s produce.’

“Brother Cook was amazed at the beauty of the grapes and drew his assistant’s attention
to their perfection. They were so perfect that no one could possibly appreciate them more
than Brother Sacristan, who had charge of the Holy Sacrament, and whom many in the
monastery considered to be a truly saintly man.

“Brother Sacristan, in turn, gave the grapes to the youngest of the novices in order to help
him understand that God’s work is to be found in the smallest details of the Creation.
When the novice received them, his heart was filled with the Glory of God, because he
had never before seen such a beautiful bunch of grapes. At the same time, he remembered
the day he had arrived at the monastery and the person who had opened the door to him;
that gesture of opening the door had allowed him to be there now in that community of
people who knew the value of miracles.

“Shortly before dark, he took the bunch of grapes to Brother Porter.

“‘Eat and enjoy. You spend most of your time here all alone, and these grapes will do
you good.’

“Brother Porter understood then that the gift really was intended for him; he savored
every grape and went to sleep a happy man. In this way, the circle was closed; the circle
of happiness and joy which always wraps around those who are in contact with the
energy of love.”

When I was a school student, every day in our school assembly one student has to go up and say a story which has some moral. Once he finishes he has to ask for the moral of the story he just explained  from the audience. Now it is my turn here to ask you guys to guess the moral of this story.  By the way this story was taken from "The Zahir" by Paulo Coelho

Universal Language and the Soul of the world

Click here (Sorry for the p. copy. I can't buy each and every book I wanna read 'coz I am a student . Sometimes I have to go for these when the book I wanna read isn't available in the library)

I read the translated version very recently upon Hemanth's recommendation. It is really an influential book. The story line is very simple but I bet you never get bored. May be few of you can finish this book without taking a break. The story line is simple, it deals about a shepherd boy's journey from Spain to Egypt in search of hidden treasures based on his recurring dream. On his journey he encounters various characters, through them the young boy learns about life. Through out the book the author tries to preach us about the universal language and soul of the world.
The author's narrative style is very sweet. I enjoyed reading it. There are many catchy quotes and punch dialogues and discussions in the book which makes the reader sit and read the whole book. I liked the way the author explained about love.

I recommend every one who never read this to read by any means. I guarantee your satisfaction!

Yangmingshan-I

The "I"in the title reveals you that there will be a sequel to this post in the near future. Yes that is true. I am really enthralled by the beauty of the Yangmingshan. It is a very big national park and I could cover only few of the destinations. I reached the mountain in the afternoon so I have less time to cover. I felt very uncomfortable yesterday in Taipei city due to the hot weather but when I reached the mountain I enjoyed the visit. There is a 12C difference in temperature between mountain(24C) and city(36C)! This mountain has lot of butterflies, dragon flies and varieties of trees. There are plenty of scenic views which are worthy viewing on a sunny day.  In fall I heard Yangmingshan is really worthy to watch. I wish I will be there soon.
This is only for Dr.YB. He ordered me to wear this pink trousers. I felt embraced when I reached Shinlin Night market. I found many girls wearing pink. My friends enjoyed laughing at me and even one of them told me that people may think I am gay. But by the way I am not a gay. Just I wore this not to disappoint my senior.

Summer

When I was a high school student, I read a poem called "The School boy" written by William Blake as  a part of my curriculum. In that poem the poet explains us about the beauty of summer in the form of school boy's preference to enjoy the summer morning rather than sit and study in a dull atmosphere. I didn't realize the beauty the poet explained until few days back.  To me summer means, terrible high temperature(40+) where people die due to sun stroke. We can neither go out nor sit inside without an air conditioner.

I really don't know wether Taiwan is an ideal place to enjoy summer but for me this is many times better than the typical Indian summer.
We can enjoy the scenic views of dawn and dusk. Different phases of moon and her warmth under which we can enjoy skylarking with friends. Especially when sky filled with stars and pleasant crescent moon, this is really awesome to watch and spend time with our beloved. Showers in summer always have a special feel. They not only relieve us from the sun's harshness but also can recharge the whole environment. Summer can never be complete without a morning walk where  we can enjoy the songs of early birds, fluttering noises of butterflies, bees  and last but not least the cool see breeze.

Started to capture some butterflies, although I am not an expert in taking pictures of such dynamic creatures. May be I need a professional camera to control shutter speed.
